Oh July...where have you gone??

I have actually found the time to do some sewing projects these last few weeks but as for taking photos and writing about them...not so much.

Recently, our lives turned upside down.  Without going into the whys and wherefores, my husband and I are going to be moving from our home of 5 1/2 years...but more importantly our church home of 5 1/2 years. It was a heart breaking decision but one that we know is right. We move in 2 1/2 weeks...and I have to admit that I don't have one complete box packed yet.

Stressed yet??

I had one child sick 2 days ago and today another seems to have the same bug.  I go from crying baby to whiny child...then whiny child to crying baby. For now, I'm just trying to keep the littles fed, clean, and changed. I have had offers from some wonderful people from our church to help with packing and child watching...so I think I'm gonna have to take them up on the offer!  (well, once I have all healthy children!)  So, I'll be popping in every now and then over the next two months...

Care to see WHERE we're moving??  I'm calling it my own little slice of Heaven for now.  Eventually I will have to come up with a name for it.

See the barn and the little house beside it?  That's my sister's property...

The backyard is wonderful!!  The left side is lined with tall trees and the right side buts up to a small river/creek depending on the season.  In the spring time, you can actually canoe from the local state park down to our house! Anybody got a canoe for sale??

Ahhh...the creek bank. It's overgrown in weeds right now but next summer we should have a good bit of that cleared out.

and our little house.  It definitely needs some tlc (the previous people did not leave it...well, clean.) but it is well on the road to being complete. I'll post some after pictures another time.

Unlike last year at the end of the summer when my posts slowed way down...I am NOT pregnant. I think 4 is our magic number :)

I am afraid

Not a craft post today...one of those nitty gritty ones, ya know?

I'm here to make a confession...

I am afraid.

I'm not afraid of just anything...or everything for that matter. It is very specific.  I am afraid of losing her.

or these guys...

and this one.

I think it rears it's ugly head the most when I have a new baby...I always have that fear of something happening to one of my littles, but the one that grips me the most, that is the hardest to push from my mind is putting my Ember down for her nap and coming back to find her not breathing.  I think of this literally every day.

There is a Psalm that I think of often, "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."  Most times this really helps me control my fear but not necessarily with this particular one. And I think it is because only one person can control this aspect of my life and that's God.  It also gets worse with age because I learn of more friends who have lost infants.  I know I have readers who have experienced this personally or have good friends who have. My heart goes out to you!

Why did I write this post?

I'm not sure.  Maybe someone's gonna read this who struggles with fear...every time I lay Ember down to sleep I ask God to help me with it.

Ember is calling me now...but tell me, do you struggle with fear also??

I'm back!!

As most of you know, I've been mia lately due to that storm...derecko...that flew through the midwest and east coast on June 29th.  It was one of the craziest things I've ever seen.

We were without power for a week so we spent that week with my family. We are home now, with power, and I threw together a couple of skirts for my girls!!  Nothing crazy exciting but I'm using up my fabric stash.

Here, they were jumping...so if you're wondering why my daughter looks like she's floating...

I just love these girls.

Of course, we can't leave out the littlest!!

Miss Ember got a skirt also :) She loves the skirt. It's the camera she's not too sure about. See that look of concentration? She's staring at the red flashing light...exactly what my son used to do as a baby!

Finally got a good smiling picture! I had to be sneaky though. She was looking at my face and I took the picture from the side. A little cropping...some bloom and tada! Pretty baby :)

What have you been up to?  I've made 2 maxi skirts for myself as well...if you'd like to see those let me know!

Storms of Life

I have been MIA this past week...and strangly enough, I didn't even realize I hadn't blogged in a week nearly.  Unfortunately my neck of the woods was one of the first areas hit badly by the line of storms that blew through the midwest and east coast last Friday afternoon.  As far as I know, every person in our 75,000+ member town was without electricity.  I'm sure that number has been drastically reduced in the last 5 days but my house is still in the dark.

Providentially, we had a party to attend on June 30th about an hr from where my sister and parents live, so when we were still without electricity, my husband decided he wanted myself and our kids to go stay with family for a while. So, that is where we have been these last few days.

Jumping on the trampoline

Swimming

Eating popsicles

Riding the four wheeler

Swinging

Talking

Celebrating July 4th

Eating popsicles

Riding in the Barbie Jeep (my daughters not me) hehe

Playing with kittens

and more talking.

It has been a good time (albeit tiring) but we do miss home!!  My husband headed home this evening and says (yes, the electric is still off) but he is able to stay cool in our basement.  He needed to get back to work tomorrow.

In a nutshell, I'll be seeing you soon but have no idea when!  Stay cool and don't take that electricity for granted ;)
