Introducing...

If you don't follow me on facebook, then you don't know that we were ever so surprised to welcome our wee Ember Sophia into the world last night!!

As many of you know, I have trouble with pre-term labor so it was an amazing thing that I was able to get to 37 weeks!  While she was a great weight--she still has a couple of signs indicating that she was 3 weeks early.  She's very sleepy :) but we are working through that.

Stats:
7lbs 12.9oz
20" long
And a helmet full of coal black hair.

My first time holding Ember :)
LOVE

4 hrs old

Sporting her first shabby rose headband :)

Meeting her big sisters and adopted grandma for the first time!  Our Brynna (the 4 year old) is absolutely enamored with her.  I'm afraid she expects to sit and hold her all day long...

and who could blame her?  This is a living, breathing baby...the same size as her own baby doll!  (except with more hair...that is actually soft)

So tell me, are you all the types who like to read about birth stories?  Let me know if you do, and I'll work that up in the next couple weeks.

Also, if you haven't found out on Facebook already, the winner (YES, there was a winner) of the baby name contest is Nichole Hartwick!  She was the only one who guessed our Ember's first name correctly and she will win her choice of either a custom Buttercup Bag, a custom cloth diaper, or a Shades of Dawn Necklace.  Congratulations Nichole!

  1. Congratulations! She's beautiful! And I adore that middle name. Thinking of using it myself if we have a daughter one day!

  2. Oh my goodness! She is a doll!!! Yay - and yes, I'd love to hear your story! Those are great stats for a baby born at 37 weeks, my little one had to go to NICU for the first 24 hours, but though that was a bit scary, they took great care of him. The first month can be full of little hiccups like that, but it'll even out eventually. Your "little mommy" will be a great help - just remember she's there to do stuff like - "quick! go grab me a blurpie rag!!!!!" :) Get lots of rest, too. Congratulations!

  5. I want to hear the story!! I love birth stories! I'm so glad you were able to make it to 37 weeks. I was so surprised when Levi came that early, but I know for you that was really good to make it that far. It's funny that both our baby's were over 7 lbs at 37 weeks...can you imagine how much they would have weighed at 40 weeks?! LOL Hope you are doing well. Get lots of rest! I know that's easier said than done (especially with 3 other little ones).

  7. Congratulations! She is a beauty. I had hair like that at birth, my kids were both very blonde (Dad was too). My son was 37 weeks and same stats, I think, 7lbs. 12 oz. maybe 21 inches? He's 26, too long ago for me to remember exactly, LOL.

  8. What a wonderful baby girl! She's a great size - bigger than both of my kids were at 39 weeks. We'll be meeting our little peanut on Tuesday and we're all very excited. Congratulations, again!
