Baby #1: born at 37 weeks after having spent week 31 through 36 1/2 on bedrest in the hospital.
Baby #2: born at 36 weeks even: she spent 2 weeks in the NICU. That ridiculous doctor refused to give me the steroid shots to help her lung developement!
Baby #3: born at 39 weeks 5 days. I wised up! Found a new doctor who specialized in preterm labor. I began taking progesterone shots at 16 weeks due to a shortened cervix.
My most recent visit to the OB revealed that I have dilated 2 more centimeters since my visit last week making me 4cm and 70%. It is quite possible that I could simply stay there for the next three weeks and then be induced (some people don't understand the "induction" here. My doctor will allow this for me around 39 weeks because my cervix is overly ready for birth as is the REST of my body!)...and it is just as possible that I'll spontaneously deliver baby E in the next couple days.
So if you can believe that with all of my preterm labor issues, I have yet to pack a bag!!! I know, this is my fourth baby...should I not know this by now? I pretty much do...but I thought I would ask what you found to be the most helpful while you were delivering a baby.

Here is my list so far:
For me
-two sets of comfy pjs
-nursing bras
-nursing pads
-computer/charger
-cell phone/charger
-camera/batteries
-one set of clothes
-socks
-brush, blow dryer, flat iron, shampoo/conditioner
-toiletries
-lanolin
-pillow
Here's something I wished I had more of:
Moving on...
For baby:
3-4 snap shirts
3-4 sleepers
blanket for drive home
going home outfit
carseat
headbands/bows
baby book
Have I missed something? What would you add? I could bring reading material but I think my computer will be enough to keep me occupied...not to mention holding, cuddling, and nursing a newborn!
PS: I'LL BE BACK SOON WITH MY COMPLETED DIAPER BAG!

Congratulations! I've never gone through that experience yet, so I really don't know. I'm interested to see what people say! Good luck soon!
ReplyDeleteThe very first thing on my list was EAR PLUGS, followed closely by chapstick! I totally can not sleep without them in a hospital. I'm so glad you decided to change doctor, though. Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congratulations!
