Somewhere along the lines, I received these old wooden spools (some with thread on them still!) and they sat in a ziplock baggy for who knows how long. I had NO idea what to do with them. So I did a little research and came up with this idea: use them as bolts for your lace.
Here are my wooden spools.
Here is my stash of lace...
I simply wrapped each yardage of lace around a cooresponding wooden spool (one that fit the size and amount of lace I had). Then I pinned it in place.
Easy, right?
I have a few spools left and I may NOT stick with this idea. I have one other thought that I might go with instead, but for now...they at least have a use instead of taking up space in a ziplock bag in my craft room.
Do you have any odd items in your house? Honestly, it wouldn't bother me in the least to get rid of these spools...but I wanted to think it through before I did that and see if I could come up with a use for them. My other thought for these is to add a wooden ball to the tops...paint them and add a magnet to the bottoms. Voila! Magnetic little people for MY little people to play with during our drive to vacation this summer. What do YOU think? Would love some thoughts and ideas!

Soooo genius! Love this idea! All my wooden spools still have thread on them...
