I don't know if I've ever mentioned it here or not but barrettes in this house disappear like socks in the dryer! It's ridiculous!
A couple weeks ago I purchased some wool felt sheets from etsy cause I heard it's so great compared to the stuff you get at the chain stores. And a few weeks before that, I found a couple cute tutorials over at Craftiness is not Optional for some really cute felt flowers.
My demensions are a little different than hers but the directions are the same, so I won't reinvent the wheel by making another tutorial!
For the flowers you see in these barrettes, I cut 1 strip 11" long by 2" wide and clipped the tabs roughly 1/4" wide. These are a pretty good size for a little girl's barrette.
The following flower was made using 2 strips that were 11"x1 1/2". I followed the same directions as in the tute but when the first strip ended, I continued with the second strip. You can't tell that it's two different strips which is great if you can only get ahold of the 9"x11" sheets as opposed to yardage felt.
It really beefs up the flower...makes it fuller looking and about 3" in diameter as opposed to 1 1/2-2" in diameter as the first grouping.
This ivory one is on fold over elastic to make a headband and meant for the newest arrival. Whatcha think?
I love em!

So cute! I have tried making these recently and love them!! Would love you to stop by and link up at my slowly growing party:)

Have a great Weekend!!
Uh...you didn't say what to do with the strips. I figure that you roll them but how do you make the flower flat?
