Accesorize your babydoll!

Ok. You can all pick yourselves up off the floor now.  I know. I have posted 2 days in a row!

Moving on...

My daughter's new babydoll...

needed some accesorizing according to her.  This morning we went to church and apparently my daughter saw the newest baby to arrive in our church.  Sweet baby Abigail has a head full of hair, and today at church, her mama had her wearing a headband.

When we got home, I was trying to determine why my daughter kept trying to put a necklace on her babydoll's head.  When I asked her about it she said she needed a headband for her new babydoll, Abigail.

"Huh?"

Then she asked if we had a headband that would stay on (because the necklace "headband" kept falling off!  I told her no...and then thought, well now, come on Mom!  I've got a stash of elastic, a hot glue gun, and a bunch of small rosettes I had made a few weeks back.

Materials:
hotglue gun
rosette
elastic
felt

Step 1. Glue felt to the back of the rosette you made.

Step 2. Measure the doll's head with the elastic and cut to desired length.

Step 3. Hotglue the ends of the elastic to the back of the felt.
Step 4. Cut small piece of felt and glue over top of the elastic ends for security.

A very simple accesory for your little one's babydoll!

Ok. So, it's pretty simple, and anyone could've thought of it (and probably has!).  I didn't add any extra doodads because my daughter wanted it done...now!!  And all that really matters is? She's happy.

News...and an explanation.

This has been me lately.  It has been difficult to peal myself off the couch some days to simply get my potty training daughter to the toilet, or feed them lunch.

Wanna know why?

Baby F #4 is due to arrive in early May of 2012, which means we've gotten off schedule.

Brynna-August 2007
Annelise-September 2009

We are excited.  The kids are oooober excited :) and hoping for a brother.  I think I might be secretly hoping for a girl again.  We shall see!

The nausea set in with a vengeance 2 weeks ago--day and night.  The next few weeks of posts might be few and far between, but please keep coming!  I'll be around!  AND I've got a few things I wanna try out for this new baby.  Thank you for your patience!

I WILL be back soon with that outdoor project!  Weather has been rather junky and I haven't been able to get decent photos of the finished project but I promise you, it's pretty cute.

So glad it's not...

this bad!!

But my only computer, my laptop, is sick.  Which is why you haven't seen me this last week!  She will soon be fixed and I'll be back on the air...with a cute outdoor project to share with you.  Be back soon :)

Long Time Coming!

Welcome!!

To my Play Kitchen...
reveal...

Our play kitchen ended up being two seperate pieces (which I like).  It took us about 2 weeks to complete but maybe actually 10 or so hours??  We have an oven, dishwasher, refridgerator, stove, sink/faucet, and a shelf to hold goodies.

Let's get to the rundown of materials and costs (at least those that I can remember!)  The base to the sink/stove combo was an old tv stand (I think) that was solid pine.  We already had that as well as the backsplash and book shelf for the fridge.  The wood and brackets for the shelf we had on hand.  If you'd like to see the pieces before beginning, go here.

We purchased:
wrack for oven--$3
3 handles--$5.50 at Lowes
dishdrainer--$1 Dollar Tree
Oven burners (4 pack of wood craft circles)--$1.29 Michaels
sink aka dog bowl--$5 Big Lots
Paint--$7.50 oops paint at Walmart
doors for fridge--$10 Lowes
hinges--$4??
Silver spraypaint--$4??
LED Taplight--$3.50

The dishwasher...

Above the sink you can see "smile." I purchased that for .49 cents at Michaels and spraypainted it silver to match.  I also purchased a star there for the dishwasher door.  The original handles on the doors were right in the middle which left a nice hole that had to be covered up.  I decided to decorate it up a bit...good excuse, right?

The backsplash is fabric mod podged right to the wood.  Turned out pretty cute.
The oven burners I simply used craft paint and painted black, then used E6000 to glue in place.  The knobs were from an old chest of drawers that we already had so they were free :).  I also painted them black for the burners, then silver for the oven.  They attach with screws so that they turn. The faucet...was FREE!  I was on CL daily looking for one, then called scrap yards locally to no avail.  Until the last number who told me to call a plumber.  He gave me one name/number so I called.  Low and behold they had the perfect Moen faucet out back in their scrap heap!

As mentioned, the fridge was an old child sized bookshelf that we had on hand.  We added pine doors, handles, and painted the whole thing.

I found 4 pink wire baskets in the dollar section at Target and 2 silver baskets at a store called Ollie's that recently opened up in our town.  These baskets serve as storage for our food, pots, pans, dishes and utensils.  We added magnetic closure to the fridge doors as well as the oven door.

And who doesn't need some freshly baked cookies??

Please, if I've missed something or you have any questions, feel free to ask!  Just about everything we did I found somewhere on the net.  We simply did our best to utilize items that we already had at home.  Eventually, I want to add a microwave :) So far though? My girls and boy are loving it!!
