New Take on an old Diaper Bag

I've had lots of pregnant friends lately, and her is the latest diaper bag for one of those friends. :) She's the type of person who is always put together...I am NOT. I really tried to do something that really fit her style. So tell me what do you think? The flap is about 71/2'' wide, and angled at the bottom. There are pockets on the inside, with a key fob. No pockets on the outside because I felt it would detract from the pattern on the fabric.
A full view of the bag...it is interfaced completely, the outside in a heavier fusible fleece, and the inside in a lighter weight fusible fleece. The difference between Joanne's and Walmart. Funny thing is, Walmart's is better!
Underside of the flap...

Key fob with a hook...

Pockets filled...although it is kinda hard to see. There are five pockets, the end is for a bottle/sippy cup. The others for diapers and wipes.
I'm thinking about doing a tutorial for this bag. Any thoughts or interest on that? Let me know in the comments please!

digital camo messenger bag

Merry Christmas to my little guy!! He absolutely could not wait to get his little hands on a Leapster 2 this year...that is all he talked about for two months before Christmas. So, one day when I was checking out the product, I found that they also have all these little gadgets for sale as well. One is a hard case that holds the leapster and another is a messenger bag to hold the system and games. I had been trying to think of something I could make him for Christmas and hadn't come up with anything yet. Ding! Ding! Ding! Yes, I decided to make him his very own messenger bag to carry his Leapster 2 and its games in.
What you see below is a complete view of the bag. It has an adjustable strap, neon green zipper in the front, under the flap that holds the games, and the main body of the bag holds the leapster system. It is basically comprised of a jordy style bag with a large flap closure, thus making it a messenger bag. He is 4 years old, so this is a small bag, fit for him. I found the strap on an old bag I purchased at a yard sale and the material is digital camo that I picked up at a discount material store in Amish Country Ohio!
Here is a few of under the flap, the neon green zipper and the easy to close velcro closure.

Ah, the grand leapster 2 itself!! See? It just fits in the bag. I interfaced all the material with fusible fleece to protect the system. 4 year old can be a wee bit hard on their toys!!

Inside the neon green zipper...the 5 games he got from family members for Christmas! Thanks Goonie, Poppie, Grandma & Grandpa, & Uncle Micah! He is lovin' his games!

He has been doing great with keeping the games and the system in his bag! So far so good.

the Vera bag lover

So now that Christmas is over, I'm able to post all the gifts that I created. I made it for my son's preschool teacher/family friend/adopted grandma! Yes, she has many titles! We love our Ms. Linda and she has done so much for us and my little guy. She is a huge Vera Bradley fan as well and has kept up with my sewing prowess, so I decided she needed an original of mine. Blue is her favorite color and no I did not quilt this one since I was going more for an original of mine and not a Vera bag.
This is obviously a close up of the bag itself. I did my best to match up the tab on the bag so it would flow with the pattern in the fabric. It's a little off! :(
This has an adjustable strap...looking back I wish I had just tied a knot in the handle instead, similar to another bag I have done. Oh well, she likes it.

An inside view...cell phone pocket and another patch pocket for whatever...

inside view of the zipper pocket...always gotta have one of these, right?
Thanks for looking, once again. Great news for me! A local store has asked to carry some of my bags! I'm hoping this turns into something good! She wants purses for little girls so here goes!

Quilted City Backpack

I appologize that these photos are a bit out of order, but they're all here. It has been a while since my last post, and the biggest reason for that is sick, sick, sick children and hubby! The 'hubs' has been sick with a virus that turned into pneumonia...the little ones had the same virus that turned into sinus, throat and ear infections...and now, the littlest one, Annelise has the croup and what is suspected to be whooping cough! Stay far away from our house!! On to the bag...

I made this city backpack for a friend who wanted a backpack that had the 'vera' look to it. I quilted each piece myself, on my machine of course! This first photo is the little matching wallet that I created to go with the bag.

This next photo is a closeup of the quilting I did on each piece.

This photo is a close up of the drawstring under the flap.

Here is a side view of the bag...a front slide pocket, adjustable straps that are attached on the side of the bag. I believe this will make carrying the bag easier on the back.

and a full front view of the bag...by the way, on the inside of this bag I inserted a zipper pocket as well.
